If there a way to have the current month by default in a KPI representing MoM in Power BI

0 votes
I ran into a problem when attempting to include a fast measure (MoM percent) in a KPI. When no filters are applied, the KPI displays the month-over-month difference between December last year (2021) and November this year (2021), rather than the current month Feb (2022) vs Jan (2021). (2022). I have a calendar table with simple measures, but I'm stumped as to why I can't show the default value. I'm guessing I need to add something to the formula linked to the filter context, but I'm not sure what it should be. I've included an image below so you can see what I'm talking about. Instead of DEC last year, I want the value in the red area to be displayed on the KPI.

The PREVIOUSMONTH DAX function can be used to always view the previous complete month. You can use this approach with ALL in the filter index to disregard any filter that might be applied, and then reference your measurements with this new one. Then you should always be able to see the most recent complete month.
