Hi,

If you forget your .pem file then you can't log in to your instance. But the below document shows you some other approach.

https://aws.amazon.com/premiumsupport/knowledge-center/user-data-replace-key-pair-ec2/

It is something like you are formatting your instance. So you need to backup your hard disk and all.
