Does becoming PMP certified increase my salary

I heard from my seniors that getting a PMP certification would increase my salary. I work as an analyst in an IT Organisation. Is this claim true? Will getting PMP certified increase my salary?

To be honest, its a myth.

PMP® certification can help with salary hike, but it will ultimately depend on your potential. 

Along with this, several other factors that can also affect include the country of employment, years of experience, and the size of the projects you have worked in, etc.
