Recent PMP Career challenges and looking for advice

0 votes

I understand that tools, engineering skills, technology, and knowledge can be learned over time. What I am experiencing, with my recent job impact due to COVID is that companies I talk to keep asking questions like having used “X” software, how much experience you have in “Y”… I am sure you get the essence… I have 7+ years of manufacturing engineering experience, but most of the work has been as an individual contributor. That doesn’t mean I haven’t led projects in a team environment.
That was one reason I studied and achieved my PMP certification- to add a new dimension and start the transition towards some sort of leadership role. With me being back in the job market…I am now back to applying to engineer roles.
Any thoughts…How to approach this situation…as it is finding new positions has been a challenge.

Thanks

In your situation where you are venturing from being a one-man show in the manufacturing industry and transitioning into the wider project management field, I suggest you look for a project coordinator role for starters. You can even check out the PMP certification training by Edureka.

I've mentored many in your situation and I was in your shoe at some point in my career.

Good Luck.
