Is it possible to use Net for the ESP8266

Question

I have a WeMos D1 Mini. So, I wanted to know if there's a way to develop for the ESP8266 using C# or am I just really stuck with the Arduino Sketch? Couldn't find anything on the internet, so I'm guessing that it isn't possible. But still, does anyone think or know otherwise? Please help! TIA!

You could write a C# marshaller, but again that uses the Arduino-Library for the ESP8266 and not for the .net micro-framework. So, I just don't think its possible. However, it would be much easier if you use C++ with Visual Studio's plugin Visual Micro for programming instead of using the native Arduino IDE for writing codes.
