Choosing the appropriate KPIs for a project is difficult, especially if many stakeholders have different expectations.
In one of my past projects, we had several stakeholders from different departments who had their own goals. I concentrated on the core objectives of the project and the overall strategy of the business in choosing the KPIs. We focused on metrics, such as customer satisfaction and delivery speed, that we could easily measure and know the project would have the most direct impact on them. I also involved my stakeholders in the process because I wanted to make sure their perspectives were considered; however, I kept things focused on outcomes that described the success of the project.
