Cannot create a Default VPC

Question

I am trying to create a default VPC but the option is greyed out and i am getting an error like this:

An error occurred (OperationNotPermitted) when calling the CreateDefaultVpc operation: Accounts on the EC2-Classic platform cannot create a default VPC.

Okay so from a document from AWS, what i figured out is that if your account is created before 2013-12-04 then some of the regions get EC2 Classic and over there you cannot create a Default VPC.

My suggestion for you would be try changing your region. That works!
