Auto fill in the blanks in Excel

In my Excel spreadsheet, I have 3 columns of data: Business Unit (column 1), Item (column 2), and Cost (column 3). All rows of columns 2 and 3 include data, but column 1 only has a single business unit before being blank until the business changes. For each business unit, I can just drag the data and control down to the empty ones, but what if I have thousands of rows and numerous business units? I'll need a lifetime to complete that. Is there a quicker way to complete this task?

Considering the information below: Step 1: Choose a cell from A2 through A31 (all the data rows under the Unit column) Step 2: Select Find & Select from the home tab. Choose Go to Special in step three. Step 4: Click OK after selecting Blanks. Step 5: Enter =A2 (which equals the cell above the blank) in the first cell, then press CTRL+ENTER.
