Convert Month Number to Month Name Function in SQL

Question

I have the months 1, 2, 3, 4, and 12 recorded in SQL Server. I want them to be visible as January, February, etc. Does SQL Server have a method like MonthName(1) = January? If feasible, I'm attempting to stay away from a CASE statement.

Try this:

SELECT DATENAME(month, DATEADD(month, @mydate-1, CAST('2008-01-01' AS datetime)))
