What do you think the role of the Project Coordinator is critical for big projects?

I believe the Project Coordinator has an important role in the project and it is mainly on leadership and coordination between engineering disciplines. 

The project manager will be mostly involved in coordination with external stakeholders, meanwhile project coordinator is involved in coordination with internal stakeholders and technical issues. Also, it is very important to be an expert in his/her work.
