SyntaxException line 1 67 no viable alternative at input University with replication class SimpleStrategy

I am trying to create Keyspace in cassandra, but I got the below error.

$ Create keyspace University with replication={'class':SimpleStrategy,'replication_factor': 3};
SyntaxException: line 1:67 no viable alternative at input ',' (... University with replication={'class':[SimpleStrategy],...)

How can I solve this?

It is showing syntax error in your command. Use the below given command to create keyspace in cassandra.

$ Create keyspace University with replication = {'class':'SimpleStrategy','replication_factor': 3};

This has worked for me when I tried to bring a cassandra on my local , using the docker image.

docker pull cassandra

docker run --name my-cassandra cassandra -p 9042:9042

In another terminal , run cqlsh followed by enter key to get access to the cql console so as to run Cassandra commands.

CREATE KEYSPACE demo WITH
   ...    replication = {
   ...       'class': 'SimpleStrategy',
   ...       'replication_factor': 1};

-- use demo ;
use demo;
