Error iptables-restore v1 4 6 Bad IP address gcompute

Question

I tried to start nova-network on my compute node, but I am not able to do so. The log files under /var/log/nova revealed the below message.

Error: iptables-restore v1.4.6: Bad IP address “gcompute”

How to fix this problem?

To solve this error, you can follow the given bellow steps.

1. Open /etc/nova/nova.conf and lookout for ‘my_ip‘ attribute.

2. Make sure ‘my_ip‘ contains IP address as value and not hostname or FQDN or localhost. In my case, it was FQDN of the compute node. I changed it to IP address.

3. Now restart openstack-nova-network service and it should work as expected.
