Server refused my aws ec2 key

Question

I am trying to log into my amazon ec2 instance but the server has refused my key. Why is this happening?

This could happen for any of the below-listed reasons:

1. You are using an ssh private key the corresponding public key is not listed in the authorized_keys files
2. Cannot access authorized_keys file
3. Do not have the right permissions to access the .ssh folder
4. The instance was launched without a key.
5. Authorized_keys file or .ssh folder was named wrongly or deleted by mistake
