Hive local inpath gives invalid path error

Hi Team, I have set up VM on my laptop. I could access terminal and Hive successfully. while running the command 

load data local inpath "txns.txt" overwrite into table txnrecords;

getting below error- 

semantic exception line 1:23 invalid path " " txnx.txt" " : no files matching path file:/home/edureka/txns.txt

I have confirmed that txns.txt file is present on the hdfs on virtual machine. Kindly help. Thanks.

You are using the below command to load data to your table.

load data local inpath "txns.txt" overwrite into table txnrecords;

The above command is used to load data from local to the hive table. But if your data set is present in the hdfs, you need to use the above command without the clause local i.e, 

load data inpath "txnx.txt" overwrite into table txnrecords;
