How to resize an EC2 instance

0 votes
I get an "InvalidInstanceType" error for compatibility issues between the current and the new instance type when I am trying to resize the EC2 instance.

Is there an API using which I can find out to which instance types my EC2 instance can be resized to?

There is no API call available to list available instance types that are compatable for resizing your instance.

This is what I found on Amazon Documentation, This is referring to instances with Instance Store, which is storage directly attached to the instance, which is lost when the instance is stopped/terminated.
