Is there a way to find the region where my ec2 is running from within an instance?

There is one more way of finding the region within an instance.

REGION=`curl http://169.254.169.254/latest/dynamic/instance-identity/document|grep region|awk -F\" '{print $4}'`

echo $REGION

us-east-1
