What is class inheritance in Puppet

What is class Inheritance?

Node groups inherent properties of its ancestor node groups. These properties include classes, class variables, rules, and class parameter values. These values remain the same unless they are explicitly assigned a different value. In such a case the child node overrides the previous values. This is called class Inheritance.

How does Puppet use class Inheritance?

Class Inheritance is used when we try to build a service from the existing modules. We can make the child node/service to inherit the modules and make only the required changes as Puppet inheritance allows you to override the inherited values.
