How to become a Security Director

Hi. I am interested in IT Security. Like people say "Aim high", I am aiming to become a Security Director. Before I start my career, I want to know properly about how to become a Security Director so that I don't waste time researching while I'm mid-way. Can someone help me out?

Get a Bachelor's degree in any IT related field. Get an entry-level job like:

• Security Administrator
• Network Administrator
• System Administrator

Then after enough experience, you will be promoted to one of the following roles:

• Security Specialist
• Security Analyst
• Security Engineer
• Security Consultant
• Security Auditor

You will have to get 7+ years of experience in IT Security and then you will be ready to apply for a Security Director job. Hope this helps.

Hi karan, to climb to the top of the security ladder and becoming a Security Director, you first need a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (B.Tech or BE), Cyber Security or a related technical field. An MS will be a plus on any job application. Then you should have very good experience in Information Security domain, so that you know Security aspects in-and-out. Big companies usually looks for a relevant master’s degree with a concentration in IT security, along with high exoerience.
