Not able to run hdfs commands

0 votes

I have setup hadoop in my system yesterday and it worked fine. I ran different hdfs commands and got expected results. Today I switched on my system and tried the command

hdfs dfs -ls /

but it didn't work. I got the following error:

Because you said it ran yesterday and did not run today when you "switched on" your system, I am guessing the hadoop daemons are not running.

run the jps command to check if the daemons are running.

If not, use the following command to start the daemons:

cd $HADOOP_HOME/sbin
./start-all.sh
