It is different for different companies because every company works in a different way and have different priorities. But for a brief idea, I am listing the common roles and responsibilities:
- Responsible to see that important information is not subjected to interception, copying, modification and/or deletion
- Responsible to evaluate, analyze and target weaknesses in cryptographic security systems and algorithms
- Design systems to provide security
- Prevent Vulnerabilities
- Analyze data and solve security problems
- Learn and test new cryptology theories and applications
- Find out vulnerabilities in communication systems
- Securely encrypt financial data and transaction details
- Encode/Decode cryptic messages and coding systems for military and/or other government agencies
- Assist government departments
