Hadoop PIG extraction shows no output

Question

I have downloaded a file from website and now I am trying to extract the file from the tar file. 

File name: pig-0.16.0.tar.gz

Command: 

tar -xzf pig-0.16.0.tar.gz

I am not able to understand whether the files were extracted or not because there is no output.

To see whether the extraction was done or not, see the contents of the directory. If the extraction was complete, you'll see a directory by the name of the file that you extracted (without the tar extension).

To see the output of extraction, add verbose option:

tar -xvzf pig-0.16.0.tar.gz
