Start with basics. Learn about Basic Database Concepts. Then install MySQL and learn how to use it. Experiment with it. Then learn how to design Schema. Choose some real-world example where database can be used and try to design a schema for it. The start learning about NoSQL Database and try experimenting with it. By the time you do all this, you'll know what interests you and then you can switch to that particular concept.

Get a Book, join a certification program. I wouldn't suggest you follow the "learn-myself" approach. It would take up more time and you would end up wasting more time on things that do not matter. There are so many good books out there (DBMS: A practical approach, Advanced Database Management System and many more). There's no use if you just keep on learning theoretical stuff. The more hands-on you do, the better.

The best way to learn something is by practically doing it. First, decide whether you want to learn SQL or NoSQL. Then choose which Database under this you want to learn. Install the Database and start following tutorials. Documentation is the most important source to learn anything but you wouldn't like it at first so start with blogs, videos, and then switch to documentation.
