Is it possible to store blockchain in a sql or no-sql database

I have learned that blockchain data is kept distributed and public. There is no single point of failure.
So i want to know that is it that the data can only be stored on its own or is it possible to store it on sql or no-sql database. ?

Currently, following are the options to store data of blockchain applications.

  • You can store everything on blockchain itself
  • You can store it on p2p file system such as IPFS decentralized cloud storages. such as ethereum swarm, storj etc
  • You can use distributed database such as cassandra, rethink DB, etc
  • BigChain DB is already a popular option
  • We also have Ties DB
