Testing methods used by a Hadoop developer

I would like to know what kind of tests being performed by Hadoop developer to check the code performance before sending it to testers?
and if the code is tested on whole data-set or just a  part of the data-set?

As such, there is no exact way to test the code, it mostly depends on the kind of Job you are running or the project you are working.

As for the dataset, the best practice is  to select a range of dataset which contains all the possible range and values
