How to handle very large data with Tableau

Question

For data analysis, I'm using Tableau 9.0. My data set is massive, with over 100 billion records.

First, I'd like to use a filter to remove the data. However, when I try to apply a filter to a specific column of data in Tableau, it continues to run... indefinitely. The reason for this is because tableau wants to show me all of these field values in ascending order before allowing me to make a pick. To filter only one or two values, for example...

However, because of the 100 billion records, it continues to operate. What is the best way to solve this issue? Is it possible to disable this feature (show all specific field values, etc.)? How can such vast data sets be filtered?
