Will a com domain name gain advantage over a be domain name in SEO results for Americans

My concern is do " .com " domain gain more advantage than " .be " when an American search the internet. Consider that the site is completely written in English.

Yes, this will affect the SEO. The domain name specified for countries will eventually give an idea that the site is targeted or the site is specific for that country. So it's always better to use generic domain names such as ".com", ".net" etc...
